Dr. Vaibhav Bhatt – School of Applied Sciences & Technology

Prof. Vaibhav D. Bhatt completed his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Ph.D. from the Sardar Patel University, Vidyanagar, Gujarat, India. After Ph.D., he has joined Anand Agricultural University, Anand as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate. In the year 2013 he got prestigious DST INSPIRE Faculty position from Department of Sciences and Technology, New Delhi at Saurashtra University, Rajkot. After completion of DST-INSPIRE Faculty tenure he served as an Associate Professor of Biotechnology at Saurashtra University. He also got an opportunity to become Chief Executive Officer of Atal Incubation Center, GTU (2020-2022) in the domain of Biotechnology and Healthcare. Currently he is working as a Professor and Director of School of Applied Sciences and Technology, Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad from March 2022 to till date. He has successfully guided 50+ students through their PG Dissertation, 8 Ph.D. students and 2 Post Doc Fellows working under his supervision at present. He has 03 Indian patents published and 1 Granted, more than 80 Research Publications in International and National Journals and more than 400000 nucleotide sequence submissions to NCBI, USA to his credit. He has organized, participated, and presented his research work in various National and International Conferences. He is also a Reviewer and Editorial Board Members in several Journals. He is also a member of various academic and professional bodies like Chairman of Board of Studies, SAST-GTU, AICTE Expert Visit Committee, Faculty of Engineering, Research Council, GTU etc. Dr. Bhatt has more than 15 years of research and academic experience in the field of Biotechnology, Biopharma, Genomics etc. and a track record of successful project completions, and proven expertise in new technologies in emerging biotechnology field. He has completed several research projects in the domain of Viral Genomics, Antibiotic Resistance, Metagenomics and Herbal drug technologies sponsored by various national funding agencies like GSBTM, DST, SERB and CICS worth more than 2 crore.
