Greetings from the GTU-School of Applied Sciences and Technology (GTU-SAST).
It gives me immense pleasure to share the progress and vision of the GTU-School of Applied Sciences and Technology, Gujarat Technological University. Since its establishment during the challenging period of the pandemic, SAST has steadily grown into a vibrant center for learning, research, and innovation. The encouraging response from students, researchers, and academic collaborators has strengthened our resolve to build a dynamic ecosystem for scientific education and discovery.
At SAST, we believe that education must go beyond the boundaries of traditional classrooms. Along with a strong academic foundation, we continuously encourage students to participate in extracurricular, cultural, and intellectual activities that foster teamwork, leadership, ethical responsibility, and social awareness. Our objective is to nurture well-rounded individuals who not only excel in their professional careers but also contribute meaningfully to society.
The school currently offers Ph.D. in Biotechnology, a DBT-sponsored M.Sc. Industrial Biotechnology, PG Diploma in Bioinformatics, PG Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights and B.Sc. Biotechnology (Honours/Honours with Research). These programs are designed to cultivate scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong research orientation among students, enabling them to address real-world challenges in biotechnology, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.
Looking ahead to 2026–2030, our focus will be on strengthening research infrastructure, fostering national and international collaborations, promoting translational research, and encouraging start-up culture among students and scholars. We aim to align our academic and research initiatives with national priorities such as biotechnology innovation, bioeconomy development, and sustainable technologies.
Equipped with modern laboratories, advanced scientific instruments, and cutting-edge software, SAST provides a strong platform for experiential learning and research. Our dedicated faculty members are deeply committed to mentoring students, nurturing their scientific potential, and guiding them toward impactful careers in academia, industry, and research organizations.
As we move forward, SAST will continue to emphasize innovation, interdisciplinary learning, industry collaboration, and global engagement, ensuring that our students remain future-ready in an ever-evolving scientific landscape.
With this vision, I extend my best wishes to all students, faculty members, alumni, and stakeholders for their continued success and meaningful contributions to science and society.
