Chandrashekar

As a marine biotechnologist, Dr. Chandrashekar has keen interests in marinomics (pro to eukaryotes), population genetics, molecular taxonomy and bioinformatics. He obtained his doctorate from CAS in Marine Biology, Annamalai University, wherein he extensively worked on molecular characterization of Turbinella pyrum (commonly known as “Shankh”). He has a total of more than 10 years research experience in academic as well as industrial sector. Into his credit, he received the National Post Doctorate (NPDF), a credit-based project from SERB,GoI, wherein he and his team successfully explored deep sediment microbiota from the Gulf of Kutch. During the same, he also developed a customized core sampler for the sediment sampling. He was also awarded with Dr. D. S. Kothari Post Doctorate Fellowship by UGC, GoI. Currently, he is actively involved in academic and administrative roles at SAST-GTU. Additionally, he is also handling 2 research projects aimed at 1) identifying antibiotic resistance
sharing between marine fauna and the environment 2) exploring the venom apparatus transcriptome of lionfish for potential drug candidates. He has published more than 40 research publications including 2 in the Nature Publishing group with a cumulative impact factor of

50, edited 3 books and reviewed several papers for reputed International journals. His works
